BandPage Launches Social Touring

BandPage Joins with Bandsintown, Songkick, and SonicLiving to Better Connect Bands and Fans on Facebook

“Social Touring” delivers evolution in how fans discover and share concert plans with friends

San Francisco, July 14, 2011 – RootMusic, the developer of the #1 Music Application on Facebook, BandPage, announced today they have upgraded their app with a new multi-platform touring integration. Incorporating the technologies of three of the top touring websites on the web: Bandsintown, Songkick, and SonicLiving.

The upgrade allows fans on a BandPage to see which of their friends are attending a show; creates the ability to RSVP for the show; and then brings the event into their friend’s feeds regarding the concert. This drives more engagement for a musician’s show, as well as letting fans know about shows they can see with their friends. Once the friends are at the BandPage of their favorite artists, they have the opportunity to RSVP and buy tickets at their BandPage.

Touring information will now directly feed into an artist’s BandPage, eliminating the need for bands to manually enter all the tour information. This will save hours of time for those that are tasked with entering tour dates to focus on other priorities for their artists.

“We at RootMusic are always looking to give artists the best chance to make a living using our product.   We are excited to partner with three of the industry’s top touring companies to strengthen the connections between a band’s fans and help touring artists get the word out,” said J Sider, CEO of RootMusic.

The BandPage “social touring” upgrade moves the industry closer to solving a problem that has hindered both artists and their fans– streamlining the delivery of tour information to fans and strengthening the fan community.  “We are at a time where technology can be built to improve touring from a fan and artist perspective- its exciting to be a part of it,’” continued Sider.  “Now bands can give their fans easy access to get the word out to attend a show with their friends.”

The tour portion of the application will give the artist the choice from which of the three touring companies they want to pull information from. Once they decide their service, they will no longer have to list the dates over and over again. Bands can focus this time on promoting the show and playing music!

Video chat & the growth of sharing on Facebook

Yesterday, Facebook announced that they’re revamping their chat. You’ll be able to chat as a group and use Skype-powered video chat. Pretty neat, eh?

We watched the live announcement on Livestream, and were intrigued by Mark Zuckerberg’s introduction. He had some poignant things to say about sharing and its exponential growth. In the intro, Zuckerberg reinforces the importance of sharing and talks about how sharing is one of the key features of Facebook. With that in mind…have you shared a song today?

You can read more about it in this TechCrunch article.
